Mental Health Technician -Deaf Services -Clanton, AL


The Mental Health Technician position works in a Residential Group home?for individuals with mental illness that are also deaf. Must be able to speak in sign language



Coaches, teaches, and supervises clients.?





  1. Learns and utilizes residential treatment principles, philosophy, policies and procedures.



  2. Works with clients and families in accordance with individual treatment plans, special programs/interventions, policies, procedures, treatment principles, and program philosophy.



  3. Assists or supervises clients completing necessary tasks in keeping with established schedule.



  4. Identify, discuss, report, resolve, and document problems following individual treatment plans, special programs/interventions, policies, procedures, treatment principles, program philosophy, and/or instructions from supervisor.



  5. Maintains policy of confidentiality.



  6. Does not initiate, and avoids personal relationships, dual roles, or interactions that might confuse the staff-client relationship with current clients or with any former clients whose feelings toward them may still be derived from or influences by the former staff-client relationship.?



Completes all necessary documentation:?





  1. Completes individual client daily checklists before the end of shift each day.



  2. Completes progress notes as required by policies, procedures, DMH/Medicaid Standards and instructions for supervisor.



  3. Does documentation in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.?



Actively serves as a member of the treatment team.?





  1. Provides input into treatment planning and treatment plan review process.



  2. Monitors and documents progress toward objectives on the individual treatment plan.



  3. Provides input into development and implementation of checklists and special programs/interventions for individual client.?



Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings and supervisory conferences.?





  1. Attends all training sessions that occur while on duty.



  2. Actively participates in training sessions.



  3. Attends all staff meetings that occur while on duty.



  4. Actively participates in staff meetings.



  5. Attends supervisory conferences as scheduled.



Provides transportation of clients as needed.?





  1. Properly operates vehicle in accordance with Center Vehicle Policies. Safely ensures the well-being of clients while transporting to the Center and other appointments as necessary.



  2. Strictly enforces Center regulations such as fastening seatbelts while van is in operation.?



Responds to client crisis or emergencies as needed, assures client safety and welfare through adherence to emergency and safety policies and procedures.

Requires: HS Diploma or Equivalent; Valid Driver's License and good driving record; Ability to score Intermediate or higher on sign language proficiency interview. Experience working with individuals with mental illness is a plus.




Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
